Below these lines not only one finds more drawings, but also clear examples of instalations Monique van Steen used to make with them. As to the opinion of the young artist, very often one drawing or painting, however expressionistic it may be, is far from being sufficient to get the artists´ message trough.

In that case Monique uses her "instalations": this way her works, all framed with the same frame and without passapartout, (this to highten the visual unity), hanged aparently without any order, is oblighting the spectater to take a longer, intensive look.

The eye of the spectator will go round and round and up and down over the works that hang before him and ... will begin to suspect relations between the drawings ... For it´s theme ... for it´s stroke ... for the forms upon the paper, reconizable and figurative ... or abstract ... Slowy Monique van Steens´ work will seduce the public to enter into her world, to hear the stories ... many of them without a definite ending.

Rather ... ending with a cuestion mark.

As we live in a world where black&white no longer excist!

Yet there is also room for the more autonomous artwork,       

drawings which are more than capable to dominate a space on the wall on their own.
